How to add the file to your calendar
Google Calendar, on a computer: make a new calendar first (next to Other calendars, + then Create new calendar). Then Settings, Import and export, select the file, choose the new calendar and click Import.
Outlook.com: Calendar, Add calendar, Upload from file, then Browse, pick the calendar and Import.
Apple Calendar on a Mac: File, Import, choose the file, then the calendar to add it to.
On a phone? Google Calendar only imports on a computer. Tap Share link, open the link on a computer and download there; the lessons then show in the phone app too.

How the weeks are counted
Every Monday-to-Friday week with at least one lesson day gets a label. The first one is Week A (or Week B if you say so), then they alternate. Half terms, holidays and weeks of only INSET days get no label, and nothing goes in your calendar on those days, on bank holidays or on INSET days.
Schools differ on what happens after a break. Some carry on counting as if the holiday wasn't there: Thornhill Community Academy's rule is that if one term finishes on Week A, the next begins on Week B. Others start again on Week A after every holiday, which is why school systems such as Arbor let staff swap the weeks after a break. Pick the option that matches your school's calendar, then check a week or two you already know.
Example: the example dates for 2026 to 2027 put an INSET day on Friday 4 September, so the first week with lessons starts Monday 7 September as Week A. The week of 19 October is Week A, then half term. If your school carries on, 2 November is Week B; if it starts again, 2 November is Week A.
Questions people ask
How do I add a Week A Week B timetable to Google Calendar?
Fill in both weeks here and download the timetable file. On a computer, open Google Calendar, go to Settings, then Import and export, pick the file and the calendar to add it to, and click Import. Make a new calendar for it first, so you can delete it in one go when the timetable changes.
Why not just repeat each lesson every two weeks?
A plain repeat carries on through half terms and holidays, so you get lessons in the holidays to delete by hand. If your school starts again on Week A after a break, a fortnightly repeat also ends up on the wrong week. This file has each lesson on its real date only.
Does Week A always start after half term?
It depends on the school. Some carry the cycle on through holidays, so a term that ends on Week A comes back on Week B. Others start again on Week A after every break, or only after Christmas and Easter. Check your school's calendar and pick the matching option.
Is it Week A or Week B this week?
The answer at the top of this page works it out from the term dates and the week your school started on. If it is the wrong way round, tap Swap A and B. For a one-off change, tap a week in the year calendar and the weeks after it follow on.
What if my timetable changes during the year?
Change the lessons here, download the file again and import it into a fresh calendar, then delete the old one. Each lesson keeps the same ID between downloads, so some calendar apps update the matching lessons instead of adding copies, but a fresh calendar is the sure way.
Can I call them Week 1 and Week 2?
Yes. Under School year, pick Week 1 and Week 2, or type your school's own names, such as Blue week and Gold week. The calendar file, the year calendar and the printouts all use the names you choose.
Does it work outside England?
Yes, with your own dates. Type your term dates and holidays, turn off England and Wales bank holidays, and add any other days off as holidays. Choose Irish time for schools in Ireland, or your calendar's own time zone for Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere.
